In this special issue of JMS, we welcome high quality research papers from a wide mathematical spectrum, and especially from those topics in which Stefan Samko has been active, e.g. operator theory, function spaces, approximations, general analysis, harmonic analysis, and applications. A survey paper may be accepted for consideration; however, we will control the number of such papers so that this number will be below 10 percent of the total papers published. The authors will have the opportunity to dedicate their paper to Professor Samko. We draw attention to this possibility of colleagues and co-authors of Professor Samko.
